PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY

“You created every part of me, knitting me in my Mother’s womb.  For such handiwork, I praise you.  Awesome this great wonder!”  Psalm 139:13-14

Nationally, the Prayer Shawl Ministry was created in 1998 by Janet Bristow and Victoria Galo.  The Prayer Shawl Ministry at Cabot U.M. Church began in 2007.  The shawls are to be a visible sign of the caring that the members of the ministry have for others.  They are given for various reasons – comfort after a loss, marriage, birth, during an illness and recovery, birthdays.  There are endless possibilities.  We combine care and love of knitting or crocheting into an outreach for those in need of comfort or solace.  Each shawl begins with prayer, is prayed over during the creation, and at completion is prayed over by each member of the ministry.  Not only can the shawls be knitted or crocheted, but woven, sewn, quilted, machine knitted, or whatever your particular ability happens to be.

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets the second Monday at 7:00 pm and the third Monday at 10:00 am.  For further information contact Edie Comstock at 724-226-1969 or prayershawl@cabotumc.com.
