The Power of Sacrifice

Malachi 3:6-12

Altar – a focal point of worship

It is a place where _____________________________

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:  The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. John 15:13

Devotion: ___________________ commitment

The city and all that is in it are to be devoted to the Lord. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent. 18 But keep away from the devoted things, so that you will not bring about your own destruction by taking any of them. Otherwise you will make the camp of Israel liable to destruction and bring trouble on it. 19 All the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron are sacred to the Lord and must go into his treasury.” Joshua 6:17-19

1.God doesn’t change so His  ________________ don’t change either

“I the Lord do not change. So you, the descendants of Jacob, are not destroyed. Ever since the time of your ancestors you have turned away from my decrees and have not kept them. Return to me, and I will return to you,” says the Lord Almighty. (v. 6-7)

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lamp-stand from its place. Revelation 2:4-5

2. A return to ____________________

“Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’“In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse—your whole nation—because you are robbing me. 10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. (v. 8-10)

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:21

“You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with your own house. Haggai 1:9

3. There is a ____________ in devotion

I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty.  “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty. (v. 11-12)

Be devoted to God!
